This weekend I went to check out the first community market of the year. It was on South Main Street, an area known for it’s many bars, restaurants, and businesses. I normally frequent this area for those reasons but always end up going after dark (I try my best to escape the Texas heat) and have never seen this market in prior years since it’s always in the morning. I guess I should start waking up earlier and get out more! I’ve been to many markets of this kind before but this one in particular was nice because of the location. It seemed like there was more patrons than there normally would be since they were in the area for other reasons already, whether that be shopping or dining. So having that large crowd definitely added to the energy of it all.
The vendors were all selling very diverse products. I saw cool clothing pop ups, food vendors, coffee shops, jewelry makers, and everything in between. I didn’t buy much though, as I was mostly there to check it all out and report back to you guys. Live music filled the air and everybody was bustling around shopping, eating, and just hanging out. The market is right next to Tinie’s patio so there were a lot of folks grabbing lunch or just having a drink and enjoying the company of others. I think this is what sets this market apart from the other’s I’ve been to, everything felt very laid back and comfortable. It’s definitely a great way to spend a Sunday morning and will absolutely be coming back. It happens the second Sunday of every month, and more details are here on their Facebook page.
If you’re looking for something to do next month and find yourself in the area, I highly recommend checking it out. Grab breakfast or lunch, browse the market, and stroll down South Main to pop into the local stores. It’s a family friendly area as well so bring the kids, and your pets too.
