Who doesn’t like Mexican food? Seriously, who on Earth, especially in Texas, doesn’t like Mexican food? It’s such a staple in America that it’s pretty hard to drive 20 minutes in any direction and not see a Mexican restaurant. With that being said, not all of those places are created equal. In a sea of mediocrity, Pulido’s stands out. Opening in Fort Worth in 1966 by Pedro and Dionicia Pulido, Pulido’s has served traditional recipes straight to your table, and has been keeping customers happy ever since. I’m always a little skeptical about Mexican restaurants. Either the salsa isn’t good, or the tortillas clearly aren’t made from scratch, or other things that are key to a great spot serving this food. Luckily Pulido’s is covered on all fronts.
Inside is nice, traditional pictures and paintings on the wall, with some old photographs of the founders. There is two separate areas, a bar area and another area strictly for dine in seating. The bar area has a couple of televisions and a full service bar. I hear the margaritas here are fantastic, but I went on a Tuesday at one and didn’t want to get too buzzy heading back to work! So I’ll have to go back for that. They have a small patio up front that seems like it might be cool to eat at during the nicer months. I ended up sitting in the dining area though. I was one of the only ones in there since I went past the lunch rush, so the service was great as I had full attention.

After sitting, I was given chips and salsa. I know it may not be much, but back in the day I think it was standard that you get chips and salsa at any Mexican restaurant, but now it seems like less and less places are doing it for free, so it’s good to see that this place still does. The salsa was good and I didn’t have much time to eat them as my food came out so fast (perks of being the only one inside). I ordered the tacos al carbon with beef fajitas. Three tacos were more than enough to satisfy my appetite, along withe the rice and beans. I walked out with the beginnings of a food coma kicking in. All of the food was great. I washed it all down with sweet tea, which was really good. Everything here had me more than happy, and I definitely look forward to going back sometime soon. Pulido’s keeps tradition alive here in Fort Worth, swing by and let me know what y’all think!
