There’s some places that everybody knows about, and everybody likes, but that I haven’t tried. Lucile’s was that place for me here in Fort Worth. Open since 1993 they have been a staple of the community, especially being right smack dab in the middle of Camp Bowie. It’s a place I’ve driven past and always told myself yeah I’ll try it out soon. Well, I did now so here we go.

I genuinely had no idea what to expect from this place, I know they’ve gotten numerous awards such as best brunch, best cocktails, best Fort Worth Restaurant, among others. But I didn’t know what kind of food they served. As I walked up I saw they advertised fresh Maine Lobster, and seeing the menu they do have a focus on seafood so that was a bit of a surprise to me.
With that being said, I ordered the wagyu meatloaf for my first time. It sounded too good not to order and immediately caught my eye. They start you off with bread and butter, and I ordered a lobster bisque as well for an appetizer. The lobster bisque was fantastic, and to be honest I’d never had that before so it was a new flavor for me. While I ate that, I was looking around the place getting a feel for it. It’s a nice interior. Nice enough for people to be a little bit dressed up for it, but casual enough to wear jeans and a t-shirt if you really wanted to. I can imagine it’s a perfect place for a date night.
Once my food came out I was surprised by the portion size, it was pretty big. The meatloaf was super tender and tasted delicious. Overall I was very impressed. I left that day knowing I’d come back. Well the next week I did. I knew they their specialty was their cocktails and seafood so i felt like I missed out on that the first time. I came back around lunchtime on a Tuesday and sat at the bar.
I ordered an extra dirty martini to start and sipped on that while I browsed the menu once again. The martini was very good, I know that may be a controversial take but I am a big fan of olives so it tracks for me. I especially liked it because they give you a small cup stored in ice to refill your martini when you’re done, so you’re essentially getting two.
I ended up ordering the lobster roll since they have live lobsters (RIP to whoever sacrificed themselves for my lunch) and I figured it couldn’t get more fresh than that. The lobster roll was awesome, I’ve always been a big fan of seafood and this was great. The bun was buttered and toasted and the lobster meat was delicious. After hearing people recommend Lucile’s all these years, I understand why. If you’re looking to try some good food in a nice environment then check Lucile’s out.
