I’ve only recently gotten into drinking coffee. I grew up never really caring for it all that much, but as all good stories go, this one starts with a girl. I met somebody who took me to coffee shops around Fort Worth, and quickly fell in love with it. My go-to is an iced vanilla latte now, I can’t get enough of them. There’s two things about coffee though, the first is obviously the taste. If I get a coffee from anywhere, I’d like it to taste good. Secondly, and sometimes overlooked, is the establishment itself. Yes you can go to any Starbucks around the corner and get coffee, and that’s fine, but I think the individual locally owned spots are where it’s at. Those are the ones with personality. That’s what Casa Azul has an excess of.

For you those of you who never took Spanish in high school, Casa Azul means Blue House. That is what you’ll see as you arrive here, the whole exterior is blue, and stands out amongst the rest of the businesses nearby. What I like specifically about this place is that it’s rich in Latino culture. From the artwork on the wall, to the flooring, to the Mexican inspired coffees and pastries. This place has a theme that they fully lean into. This sets them apart from many other places. Where else can you get a pan dulce at 6am on a Monday? Where else can you get a Mexican Mocha (which was delicious by the way) as a midday treat? Only here at Casa Azul.
This place is very community oriented as well. Hosting events and even offering free coffee for customers from time to time. The service is always kind and every visit is a great experience. They have plenty of seating inside and out, which is a big deal because many small coffee shops in the area tend to be crowded and have nowhere to sit if you’re not there early. They also have a drive thru, which most smaller joints don’t have. Everything about this place feels good, and that’s what sets them apart from the rest. It’s one of my favorite coffee shops in Fort Worth, and for good reason. Next time you’re in need of a caffeine kick, swing by Casa Azul.
