Firepot

I’ve gone years and years hearing about how good Korean BBQ is and how I need to try it. The problem was that those same people recommending it to me said all the good places to go are in Carrolton. Which is a bit far from Fort Worth, I’ve been too lazy to actually go but luckily Firepot just opened up right here town. It’s a hot pot/sushi/Korean bbq mix and let me tell you, it was great.

I knew the basic idea of what it was but the waitress did a great job of explaining everything to me. My group of friends and I all picked our soup to start off. I chose Tom Yum, which was pretty spicy but super delicious. Then while we waited for that to be made we went to the sauce bar, which is a bunch of different sauces that you can mix together in provided bowls to use for your food later or to mix into your soup. The sauce bar also has sushi which I was stoked for. I’m a huge fan of sushi so just having some on the side like that was awesome.

I sat closest to the revolving food tray. Which is a conveyor belt of things to put into your soups. It was a constant rotation of vegetables, crab legs, shrimp, noodles, and anything else you can think of. The selection was great and it being all you can eat was fun because everybody was more willing to try whatever we wanted. Once our soup arrived we had to turn on the heating pads at the table to keep the soup warm. They’re essentially little stove tops for each person seated with the controls right in front of you. Word of warning, it gets hot. Like really hot. Having a boiling pot of soup in your face makes everybody sweaty, but it made the whole thing a little bit more fun.

At each table there is also a small grill. For an extra $5 you can also get access to cooking meat on that, so my whole table did it. We were ordering every meat on the menu and everything tasted delicious. Thankfully my buddy was closest to the grill so I wasn’t in charge of that, I essentially had my personal chef on lock. Although I was in charge of keeping an eye on the conveyor belt to grab whatever they requested, so it evens out. All in all it was a very collaborative effort. This place is very fun with a group of people to go with, and a small thing i noticed but appreciated was the size of their booths, they were super long. My group was 6 people and we all fit very comfortably with space for at least 3 more. The pricing was reasonable as well, with my total coming out to $40 for all you can eat, and let me tell you, I ate all I could. We all had plans to go out afterwards but everybody was in a food coma and we called it an early night.

If you’ve never been to a Korean BBQ, or if you’re wanting to try out a new one, give this place a try!
