Bowlounge

Bowling is one of those things that seems universal. Every friend group at one point or another, goes bowling. It’s a communal activity that is fun for everybody. And the fact that most of, if not all bowling alleys serve food and drinks, means that you can go for lunch or dinner if you really wanted to. It covers many bases that going to a restaurant or bar alone can’t cover. The problem with many bowling alley’s though is they suck. They’re 30 years old with no renovation, smells like mildew, bad food, the list goes on and on. Bowlounge is different though. Bowlounge is actually a place I’d like to spend an evening.

Upon entry you’re in the “lounge” area of the building. There’s a bar, pool table, a stage for live music, and many tables for seating. This location specifically has recently been renovated so everything is nice and new. They’ve also recently started opening at 8am as well to serve breakfast items! That alone is a crazy concept, bowling in the morning seems wrong, but feels so right. What a fun way to start your day. When I arrived I got a breakfast taco, bacon egg & cheese. It came with a side of salsa and it was really good. Better than a bowling alley breakfast taco had any right being. To accompany it I ordered a matcha as well. Honestly I’d prefer an iced coffee but let’s just say coffee and my stomach don’t get along very well. The matcha was fantastic though so no regrets there.

I went back later on the next day when I could gather up a couple of friends to join me so we could all bowl. We came around 8pm and it was a little bit busy, with about 5 other lanes being used. Check in process was easy, we all got our shoes and headed to our lane. Upon arrival a waiter came by and took our drink/food orders. I got a beer and hot wings (that’s the classic combo I had to do it). My friends ordered tacos at my recommendation and they loved them. My wings were good, and the beer was as good as beer always is. There was 5 of us in the group and we had the lane for an hour. Which was the perfect amount of time as we finished a game and had only 10 minutes left on the timer. I’m no bowling professional by any means, but I did get one strike so I have that going for me.

After the game was over we took our drinks outside to their patio. We played darts and a very messy game of Jenga. The patio section is pretty large all things considered. They really do have an emphasis on this not being just a bowling place. I wouldn’t mind coming here for a couple of drinks and food and not bowling at all. It’s very well located too, in an area surrounded by bars so if that’s the way you want your night to take you then it’s easy to make the transition. All in all, Bowlounge is a great spot, whether that be for a date night or a night out with friends and family.
