I have and will always be a seafood fan. Finding a good spot is a little bit hard since we’re in the middle of Texas so anything labeled as “fresh” makes me a little skeptical. I’m always willing to try out a seafood spot if I hear it’s good though, and boy is Walloon’s good.

It’s a really cool restaurant right on Magnolia, in the historic LaCava Building. I enjoy going here for the ambiance alone, it’s very nice inside but still laidback. The coastal vibe is fun yet a little bit elegant. A waiter inside once told me that he feels the energy of this place channels Ernest Hemingway and I feel that’s a very apt description. I’ve been here for lunch as well as dinner and the energy is always good, a bit busier during dinner than lunch though from what I’ve seen. The service is always fantastic which is appreciated, and our servers have always been very knowledgeable on the menu and drink menu too (if you’re ever trying to decide what to get).
As far as food goes I can’t give you too much information. As I’ve only gotten one item every single time. The Lobster Roll. I’m obsessed, I love it. It’s buttered lobster meat inside of a perfectly toasted piece of bread, with a side of french fries. It is a little bit pricy compared to the other sandwiches on the menu but I don’t mind at all. The fries are really good as well. It’s a great combination of juicy/meaty from the lobster and crisp/crunchy from the fries. Portion size is perfect as well, enough to fully satisfy you but not too much to where you’re leaving stuffed and uncomfortable. I always leave here feeling clean and light, compared to going somewhere and eating a greasy burger.

As far as other food goes, my friends have gotten the pan roasted salmon and steak frites, both of which they’ve said is good. I personally need to try the seafood mac and cheese. They do have a couple of non-seafood items as well such as the pub burger, Italian beef, crispy chicken sandwich, and braised short rib. This place is perfect for so many things, nice enough for a date night, casual enough for a dinner, big enough for large groups, and just cool enough to stop in for a drink at the bar. Swing by Walloon’s y’all.
